Mette Jensen isn’t a professional singer, she didn’t attend drama school from the age of eight and she hasn’t appeared on any TV talent shows. As a youngster she did hope to have a career as a singer but life had other plans and so it never really happened. Today, Mette enjoys success in the finance world, but singing and song writing remains her passion.

During the Covid lockdowns of 2020/21, Mette uploaded a song from a musical theatre show every week for 62 weeks. Always in costume. Learnt, rehearsed, recorded, filmed, edited and released in a week.
“I had really just been singing for fun and my own pleasure and had no idea how to reach anyone with my songs or my singing. I couldn’t imagine that anyone would want to listen to a middle aged woman singing songs from her bedroom – I figured that was best left to the teenagers.
But one Sunday morning, early on in the Covid pandemic, I had the idea for what is now known as “Sunday at the Musicals with Mette”. The theatres around the world were all dark, I loved musical theatre and I thought that if I dressed a little in character as well as just singing the song, that that might make it a little more fun and engaging for anyone listening.”

Mette has uploaded a video every Sunday for over a year now – each week a different song from musical theatre or a musical film, and each week a different costume, wig and setting. The videos have been watched hundreds of thousands of times overall and Mette has a growing number of loyal fans from around the world.
